Not any ordinary Apprenticeship Programme
At STERIS IMS our apprenticeships are available to current employees as well as candidates wishing to join STERIS via an apprenticeship opportunity.
Apprenticeships have experienced somewhat of a rise and fall since the medieval days of craft guilds back in the middle ages, fast-forward to 1993 when apprenticeships saw a resurgence with the introduction of “Modern Apprenticeships”. By 2004, the then Government introduced another higher level of vocational qualifications: The Advanced Modern Apprenticeships which also saw the upper age limit of 25 being removed together with the introduction of higher apprenticeships at foundation or degree level.
Our apprenticeships are suitable for everyone including:
Adults over 25
Where traditionally apprenticeships were largely associated with young people leaving school this is no longer the case. Apprenticeships are suitable for anyone of any age and at STERIS, this is reflected in the broad and diverse cohort who are currently learning and earning across our clean rooms, offices, and labs.
Young people leaving care
we can offer apprenticeships to young people leaving the care system and, we have been accredited with the ‘care leavers covenant’ meaning, we will always offer an interview to anyone who applies for a role with us and who has been part of the care system.
Neurodivergent? Our apprenticeships are still relevant
Our comprehensive training programme is delivered via our in-house training team supported by an external training provider. We have also worked closely with charities such as Autism UK and other charities to support neurodivergent apprentices in making adjustments and providing additional on-the-job support. We have re-wired our recruitment process to be inclusive and aligned to Disability Confident, we have dedicated safeguarding leads and provide outstanding on-the-job skills combined with an immersive learning experience.
At STERIS IMS we offer apprenticeships from level 2 to level 7. We have a dedicated internal training team who also work with external providers to provide well-rounded vocational qualifications that provide meaningful careers now and into the future.
